Puja method of Chaitra Navratri 2024:

  • Take bath in the morning and wear clean clothes.
  • Clean and decorate the puja place.
  • Establish the Kalash.
  • Install the idol or picture of the goddess.
  • Light the lamp and burn incense sticks.
  • Offer fruits, sweets, betel leaves, betel nuts etc.
  • Chant the mantras of Maa Durga.
  • Perform Aarti.
  • Distribute Prasad.

Fast of Chaitra Navratri 2024:

  • During the fast, devotees eat only sattvic food like fruits, milk, curd, etc.
  • Do not consume meat, liquor, and other intoxicants.

Chaitra Navratri 2024 – Puja Samagri

The puja materials required for Chaitra Navratri puja are as follows:

Necessary Pujan Samagri:

  • Idol or picture of Maa Durga:  There should be an idol or picture of Maa Durga for worship.
  • Kalash:  A copper, brass, or clay kalash is installed for worship.
  • Barley, soil, mango leaves:  These are required to install the Kalash.
  • Red cloth, coconut, roli, mouli:  To decorate the kalash and chowki.
  • Akshat, flowers, incense, lamp, camphor:  To offer in puja.
  • Fruits, sweets, betel leaves, betel nuts:  to offer to the Mother Goddess.

Other Pujan Samagri:

  • Havan Kund (If Havan is to be performed): It  is auspicious to perform Havan during Navratri.
  • Hawan Samagri:  Hawan requires Samidha, Ghee, Camphor, etc.
  • Ingredients for Prasad:  Prasad is also prepared to give to the devotees.

Pujan Samagri used during the puja ritual:

  • Vessel filled with water: A  vessel filled with water is kept for Aachman.
  • Ganga water:  Holy Ganga water is used for sprinkling in worship.
  • Rice:  Used in intact form in puja.
  • Kumkum and turmeric:  Roli and turmeric are used for tilak.
  • Naivedya:  Food offered to the Goddess.
  • Conch:  The sound of conch makes the atmosphere sacred during worship.
  • Bell:  An important item used in worship.

Things to keep in mind:

  • All objects for worship should be clean and sacred.
  • Fruits and flowers should be fresh.
  • If you are performing Havan, then collect all the things as per the list of Havan materials given by Pandit ji.
  • Only the worship of Mother Goddess with devotion is considered successful, hence worship Mother Goddess with full devotion and concentration.

Chaitra Navratri 2024 – Fasting Story

Chaitra Navratri Vrat Katha includes many incidents, which show the power of Goddess Durga and her blessings on the devotees.

First story:

Once upon a time, there was a Brahmin and his wife. He was poor, but he was an ardent devotee of Goddess Durga. He decided to observe Navratri fast. The husband and wife kept fast for nine days and worshiped Goddess Durga. On the tenth day, he performed Kanya Puja and offered food to her.

That night, Goddess Durga appeared in a dream to the Brahmin’s wife and blessed her. Next day, the Brahmin was called by a king and rewarded with riches and grains.

Second story:

There was a king whose name was Surath. He was also a devotee of Goddess Durga. He decided to observe Navratri fast. During the fast, he worshiped Goddess Durga day and night.

On the day of Navami, King Surath sought blessings from Goddess Durga to achieve victory in the battle. The next day, the king was victorious in the battle and established peace and prosperity in his kingdom.

Third story:

Once upon a time, there was a demon named Mahishasura. He had defeated the gods and captured heaven. The gods were frightened and prayed to Goddess Durga.

Goddess Durga fought with Mahishasura and defeated him. The gods thanked Goddess Durga and prayed to her to always protect them.
