On the last day of the holy festival of Navratri, the ninth form of Maa Durga, Maa Siddhidatri, is worshipped. This form of Goddess Siddhidatri is considered to bestow all kinds of success and achievements. Come, know the story of Maa Siddhidatri, her importance, worship method and mantra, and the benefits related to her worship.

Who is Maa Siddhidatri?

Maa Siddhidatri is the ninth and final form of Goddess Durga. In this form, she fulfills all the wishes of her devotees and grants them all the attainments. ‘Siddhi’ means attaining supernatural power and ‘Daatri’ means giver. Goddess Siddhidatri blesses her devotees with eight siddhis like Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Ishitva and Vashitva.

Story of Maa Siddhidatri

  • Blessings of Lord Shiva:  According to mythology, in the beginning of creation there was only darkness, then Adishakti Maa Kushmanda, who is worshiped on the fourth day of Navratri, created the Trinity i.e. Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. Brahma ji was given the task of creator, Vishnu ji was given the task of preserver and Shiva ji was given the task of destroyer. Once Lord Shiva prayed to Mother Adishakti to grant him perfection. Then Mother Adishakti created another goddess, who is called Siddhidatri. Maa Siddhidatri blessed Shiva with 18 Siddhis, along with eight or ‘Ashta Siddhis’.
  • Ardhanarishwar form of Shiva:  There is also a belief that being pleased with the worship of Mother Siddhidatri, half of the body of Lord Shiva became that of a goddess and Shiva was called Ardhanarishwar.

Appearance of Maa Siddhidatri

Mother Siddhidatri sits on a lotus flower and her vehicle is a lion. The goddess has four hands. He has a disc in one hand, a mace in the other, a conch in the other and a lotus flower in the other. Mother Siddhidatri showers her love and blessings on the devotees with a gentle smile.

Puja Materials needed

The following materials are required for the worship of Maa Siddhidatri:

1. Idol or picture: The idol or picture of Maa Siddhidatri is essential for worship.

2. Flowers: White or pink flowers, such as jasmine, rose, or lotus, are offered to Maa Siddhidatri.

3. Incense and lamp: The Goddess is pleased by lighting incense and lamp.

4. Roli, Akshat, and Sindoor: Roli, Akshat, and Sindoor are offered to the Goddess.

5. Honey: Honey is offered to the Goddess as a sweet.

6. Sugar: Sugar is also offered as sweets to the Goddess.

7. Kamalgatta: Kamalgatta is offered to please the Goddess.

8. Fruits: Various types of fruits are offered to the Goddess as offerings.

9. Naivedya: Naivedya is offered to the Goddess in the form of food. Naivedya may include kheer, halwa, or other sweets.

10. Paan: Paan is offered to the Goddess.

11. Betel nut: Betel nut is offered to the Goddess.

12. Dakshina: Dakshina is given as charity to the Goddess.

13. Clothes: White or pink colored clothes are offered to the Goddess.

14. Jewellery: Jewelery can also be offered to the Goddess.

15. Chanting Mala: Chanting Mala is used for worshiping the Goddess.

Maa Siddhidatri Puja Method

Goddess Siddhidatri is worshiped on the ninth day of Navratri.

  • First of all, bathe Goddess Siddhidatri and dress her.
  • Offer them Roli, Akshat, Sindoor.
  • Worship him with devotion with white or pink flowers, incense, lamp, fruits, naivedya etc.
  • Recite Siddhidatri Mantra and Aarti.

Maa Siddhidatri Mantra

The special mantra for worshiping Mata Siddhidatri is as follows-

Om Devi Siddhidatrya Namah:

That is,  may the blessings of Mata Siddhidatri, who provides salvation like Omkar and gives many types of achievements to everyone, always remain with us. We bow down and worship him again and again.

Benefits of the blessings of Mother Siddhidatri

  • Fulfillment of wishes: Mother Siddhidatri fulfills all the wishes of the devotees made with true heart. Be it any worldly goal or a desire for spiritual progress.
  • Attainment of Ashta Siddhis: Eight Siddhis include wonderful and supernatural powers like Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Ishitva and Vashitva. By worshiping Mother Siddhidatri, devotees attain these divine powers.

  • Increase in happiness and prosperity: Goddess Siddhidatri brings happiness, peace, and prosperity in the lives of her worshipers by liberating them from all kinds of obstacles and troubles.
  • Positivity and Spiritual Advancement: The blessings of Maa Siddhidatri remove negativity from the mind and help the devotees to move forward on the spiritual path. Devotees can also attain salvation by worshiping him.
  • Mental and Physical Well-being: Goddess Siddhidatri removes the physical and mental troubles of the devotees. By taking refuge in him, diseases are destroyed and the devotees get health and good fortune in their lives.

  • Another devotee told that  he had failed in an examination. He started worshiping Maa Siddhidatri and next time he got success in the examination.
  • A third devotee said that  he was suffering from a serious illness. He started worshiping Maa Siddhidatri and within a few months he completely recovered.
